Changes to the collective

March 10, 2009 in Collective, My Sites | Comments (1)

I’ve made some changes to my fansite collection. First, the closures. I decided to give Kathryn Morris Fan to my coweb Colleen. She was working so hard on the site and I never seemed to have the time to do anything with it. I know she’ll take excellent care of it though. The other closure was a site that was given to me in early January but I never did anything with it.

The new additions to my family I am really excited about. The first is Kate Mara Fan. I love love LOVE this actress and I was so disappointed that there weren’t any fansites dedicated to her. So even though I can barely keep up with what I have, I made one!

Amanda Bynes is another actress I really like.  I’ve been a loyal visitor to Bynes Source for ages and so when it came up for adoption, I just knew I had to take it.  Amanda is so popular with the press that it will be hard to keep up but I had to have this site!

Help needed…

I just received something very exciting in today’s mail.  The International Scholar Laureate Program has invited me to be a part of this year’s delegation group.  I will have the choice of going to China, Australia, or Eastern Europe for two weeks to participate in lectures and presentations given by various companies.  The problem is that in order to go, I will need to raise at least $6000.  The packages range from $5200-$5400 plus I would need a little spending money and the funds to get a passport.

If you can donate anything - even a little - it will help me out a lot.  I will keep careful track of all donations so in the event that I am unable to raise enough money, any donations I’ve received will be refunded.

My paypal information is xfiled97[@]comcast.net (remove the brackets)

Or you can email me for other donation options.  The best email to reach me at is fansites[@]hotmail.com

New site finally opened

A day early but I was at a really good stopping place as far as adding photos and stuff.  Once I finish up with 2006-2008 events, I’ll be pretty much done with the gallery.  It’s always so exciting to open up a brand new site.  There’s a bit of nervousness there too.  I’m not one of those people who must get my page ranked on Google  or have the most visitors.  It’s just nice to see that something I worked so hard gets visitors lol.

So yeah, check out the new site if you’re interested.  It’s dedicated to Amy Adams.

Blargh!

I’m a fansite addict.  I admit it.  I love creating them, I love running them, I love watching them grow and become more popular.  I do not love starting from scratch.  I always forget how much work it is to start a site from nothing.  It take hours to find photos and make screencaps.  My new site that I’m working on is scheduled to open in exactly one week.  I have so much I want to get done before it opens that I have no idea how I’m going to be able to do it and still have any semblence of a life away from my computer.  I would just postpone the opening but the date has been on the coming soon page for days now and the site is already lurking around page four on Google - and it hasn’t even opened yet!  What I’ll probably do is get as much done as I can without driving myself crazy and open as is.

I’m attempting something a little different with this site.  I’ve been paying attention to all the sites I run and I noticed that visitors tend not to look at screencaptures unless it’s of something really rare or unique.  So with my new site, I’m not going to spend hours and hours capping all her movies.  I’ll put up things like trailers and talk shows and special features from DVDs and stuff, but it just seems like a waste of time to cap an entire movie.  Hardly anyone will look at the caps and I’ve kind of come to the conclusion that screencaps are just a cheap way to inflate a gallery’s file count.  No offense to anyone - I’m guilty of it myself lol.  So we’ll see how this goes.  If a ton of people start requestion screencaps, I’ll probably start adding them.

Greetings!
